Photo Seven, People

For the final photo assignment, I chose to take pictures of people. Manly my photographs are of my younger sister, Emily. I know that's slightly repetitive, but I still think the pictures turned out nicely. Here is my best photograph, unedited and then edited by Photoshop.

ISO 80
FNumber 6
Exposure Time 1/50
Here are the rest of my photographs.

I enjoyed taking these photographs greatly, because I think my sister is a beautiful girl. I maybe would want variety next time, but overall I am happy with how my pictures for the last week of the trimester went.

Photoshop Tutorial

For this assignment, we were supposed to look up a tutorial for Photoshop, then create a photograph. I chose to use the lightening tutorial that was provided. It was really easy to follow, and all the Photoshop steps were quite simple. I think my photograph turned out interesting.

Photo Assignment Six, Light and Shadows

For this assignment, I chose to do light and shadows. I was inspired because it was a beautiful and sunny day, and the timing was just right for shadows. My best photo was edited, and so here it is unedited, and then the final product.

ISO 80
FNumber 8
Exposure Time 1/100
Not my best photograph, but not my worst. Here are the rest of my photographs:

I didn't really have a lot of good pictures this week, in my opinion, but I'm not too disappointed in them either. This was kind of my 'black and white week', where I didn't get much of what I wanted. Anyways, enjoy.

Visual Dictionary

For this assignment we had to pick three words, then on Photoshop, define them using pictures. Here are my three.

This assignment was really easy, and fun to do.

Puns

For this assignment, we had to create three puns, or plays on words, and put them all together. Using our mind to think up something, and then Photoshop to create it, the three photographs went into a final product. Here is mine.
The only difficult thing about this assignment was thinking up the puns, but I think I came through well enough.

Photo Assignment Five, Food

For the fifth photo assignment, I chose to take photographs of food. My mom had recently had a get-together with some of her friends, and had made some delicious cupcakes. I figured that they'd make pretty cute pictures, and I was hoping to make them look as good as they tasted! Here is my best photograph:

ISO 80
FNumber 2.8
Exposure Time 1/80
And here are the rest of my best photographs.

With this assignment, I didn't really run into many problems. Over all, it was relatively easy and enjoyable to take the photographs.

Portraits

For these photographs, we used some different portrait types. For the photograph on the left, natural light from a window was used, as well as a bounce card to channel it. On the photograph on the right, three-point lighting was used. That actually uses four lights, but the outcome is a great picture. It is more professional looking, but more difficult to get access to.

I am happy with the way my photographs turned out. My models were gorgeous, so all that mattered was that I take the picture correctly. This was a fun assignment.

Photo Assignment Four, Black and White

For the fourth photo assignment, I chose to take pictures in black and white. I think that black and white naturally looks better with most photographs, but it really depends. Occasionally, black and white can add details, but sometimes take them away too. That's where black and white can be tricky. Here was my best black and white photograph for the week.
ISO 400
F Number 6
Shutter Speed 1/25

I think that this assignment went pretty smoothly, and I'm happy with it's results. I only used Photoshop a small amount, so I'm glad that it wasn't needed to help my images out.

School Context Assignment

For this assignment, the idea was to have a picture of the school, or something we see daily, and alter it into something that we do not see daily. Taking a nice picture of the school was the first step. Then, we uploaded our photographs into Photoshop. There, basically anything could be altered, and a lot of aspects were changed to make the photographs different and unusual. Here was mine.
This assignment went really well. Once you get the hang of Photoshop it is relatively easy. My photograph wasn't too realistic, but I suppose that is the point of the assignment.

Photo Assignment Three, Nature

When I did the macro assignment, I really enjoyed taking the pictures and thinking up new things to actually take pictures of. I did nature this assignment so that I could take a handful of macro photographs and still use them. This was my best photograph of the week...
 Exposure Triangle being:
ISO 250
Shutter 1/60
Aperture 2.8

And here are some more of my best photographs from this week:

I really enjoyed taking nature pictures, I like the whole concept of capturing details that most are not aware of. The week went pretty smoothly for me as well, and I'm mostly happy with my final product.

Panorama Assignment

The objective of a panoramic picture is to show a widened view of a photograph. There is only so much that can be seen with a single picture, with a certain lens. In Photoshop, using multiple photographs, you can combine them into one. Several photographs of one scene, (slightly staggered) can be placed together for one photo. Here are my five panoramic photographs.

I enjoyed this project, because I have always wondered how pictures are taken that are so wide. To create one photo out of multiple was a very interesting experience. It was not too difficult due to Photoshop making it relatively easy.

Animals Assignment

For the second photo assignment I chose to use pictures of animals, simply because I was around animals that particular week. I tried to capture the personality behind them, but as you could assume, capturing the personality of animals was hard. I took the majority of these pictures at a farm near my home. Here's my best photograph...
Here is my exposure triangle:
ISO- 400
Aperture- 3.5
Shutter- 1/ 60

and here are my top photographs.

For this assignment, I found it difficult to get an interesting picture of each animal. Sure, animals have personality, but do they show it? Not too much. I thought that it still worked out really well, it just required a bit more work to get there.

Macro Assignment

For this week's assignment I chose to use the macro composition element. The directions, as they will be every week, were to take several photographs of various things- close up. After searching for our best photographs, we were to blog about them. The photos also were not supposed to be edited.
I had trouble deciding what photograph to use. I had three or four really nice ones of dandelions and a butterfly. I chose the dandelion in the end because I felt that it was the absolute best representation of macro. My ISO triangle was the following:
Exposure time- 1/60
FNumber- 8
ISO- 80

I learned that there are actually quite a few things out there that look better close up. Standing ten feet away can sometimes be a great picture, but when you get every detail caught, it can really make or break the photograph.

Car Retouch

Description: For this assignment, we were given a before and an after of a car photograph- before and after Photoshop. Using the after photograph as a reference, we recreated it on our own.

What I learned: All the different aspects of Photoshop and how to use them, and also the many things that can be accomplished using Photoshop.

First Assignment

For my first assignment I am considering trying my luck with the Macro. I think out of all the examples I've seen, I am always been most drawn to the close-up photographs. I also live on a farm in the country, so there's plenty of opportunities at my home. I can do nature or animals.
Here's some of my inspiration. I think these pictures are intriguing, as they show details not always seen. They enhance the beauty of the subject.

Pop Art

For this assignment we took self portraits using Photo Booth, then uploaded and edited them using Photoshop. Going through many steps to get the correct colors in our pop art, we had a finished product to blog about.
I learned that Photoshop isn't as easy as pressing a button and you have a image already created. Many settings can be changed and pretty much anything can be made.

Composition Assignment

Assignment Description: For the Composition Assignment, we first learned about various composition elements. We took notes on each to be positive that we could create a photo using them. After taking numerous photographs, we uploaded them onto Photoshop, edited a few, and then were told to blog about them.
Photo Description:
Rule of Thirds- "water droplets"
Pattern- "tiles"
Symmetry- "stone column"
Texture- "grass field"
Depth of Field- "trees"
Lines- "stairwells"
Framing- "reeds"
Perspective- "trees and fog"
Space- "pond"
Balance- "pond"
Color- "flowers"

What I learned: That certain composition elements are hard to find, and most make or break a photograph.
